Introduction to Swimming Pool

1. Bill Boomer of swimming pool

William "Bill"/"Buzz"/"Boomer" Boomer was the head coach of the men's swim team at the University of Rochester from 1962 to 1990. Since the early 1990s, Boomer has been a guest speaker for the Stanford University swim team and has worked one-on-one with many world-class swimmers.

Boomer was a coach for the 2000 US Olympic team. Boomer had no experience coaching swimming when he started at Rochester. The graduate assistant to the track and field team had in fact never seen a swim meet prior to being offered the job.

In order to better understand his swimmers, Boomer studied how the human body reacted to the water in a pool. From there, Boomer developed swimming techniques similar to those used by aquatic animals, and those techniques would then be adapted by some of the best swimmers in the world. Boomer's techniques emphasize keeping the core body aligned properly to minimize water resistance.

Boomer and his coaching staff were named the 1998 UAA Coaching Staff of the Year. Boomer also coached the men's soccer team at the University of Rochester from 1965 to 1969, leading the team to a 24-26-3 record. Early in Boomer's career as the University of Rochester Varsity Swim coach, he coached the 1966-1967 Men's Varsity Swim Team to an undefeated season, 11-0.

This was the first of many other successful swim seasons. Boomer was inducted into the University of Rochester Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007.

Videos of swimming pool

He has a series of five videos that are known in the swimming world as the Boomer Chronicles. Filmed in 2000 by Bill Boomer and Milt Nelms on competitive swimming technique. The following series of videos outlines a revolutionary thought process because of the way he approaches aquatic based movement from its core.

Boomer Chronicles 1: Body Awareness Teaches awareness of body segments. It's important information, but the whole series could have used higher production values and better editing. It will likely appeal to only the most serious students of swimming.

Boomer Chronicles 2: Assembling Aquatic Body Lines 2000. This tape focuses on postural characteristics necessary for both survival and performance in land-based or aquatic environments. It begins with the specific alignment qualities necessary for bodyline assembly in both environments.

The video concludes with a focus on assembling a functional aquatic bodyline. Boomer Chronicles 3: ? Assembling Aquatic Performance Platforms on Boomer Boards - focuses on constructing a swimmer's aquatic chassis.

This core framework or working platform contains our aquatic suspension system. Swimmers use this unitized suspension system as a stabilizing tool when managing aquatic environmental forces. Boomer Chronicles 4: Aquatic Stabilization Focuses on how various swimmers, using the prone "X" posture on Boomer Boards, construct and operate their prone suspension systems.

This video also illustrates how to construct a supine performance platform and its suspension system for aquatic stabilization. Boomer Chronicles 5: ?

2012 Olympics of swimming pool

Djibou Issaka, a gardener and swimming pool attendant, was chosen by Niger to train as a sculler just three months prior to the 2012 Summer Olympics, receiving his first training in competitive rowing in Egypt, then spending two months at the International Rowing Development Centre in Tunisia. He was chosen for a wild card from the IOC Tripartite Commission, adding him to the full pool of otherwise qualified rowers, in a program that seeks to develop sports outside traditional competitors. In the 12 weeks prior to the Olympics he was named Nigerien national rowing champion.

He trained in the Belgian town of Hazewinkel, prior to the opening of the games. On 28 July, Djibo Issaka gained widespread press attention for his first Olympic appearance in the 2000 metre single sculls heat, in which he finished last with a time of 8:25.56, almost a minute behind his nearest competitor and almost 1 minute 40 seconds behind the winner.

The British press gave Djibo Issaka a wave of attention following his first appearance, comparing him with Equiguinean swimmer Eric "the Eel" Moussambani from Sydney 2000, and giving Djibo Issaka headline nicknames of "Issaka the Otter", "Hamadou The Keel," and the "Sculling Sloth". While crowds and the press cheered him, British former Olympic Gold Medal rower Steve Redgrave criticised Djibo Issaka's inclusion. Despite these comments, the IOC explained Djibo Issaka had not taken the place of any other qualified rower, but was one of a number of Olympians added to additional places created after qualification.

In total, Djibo Issaka rowed in four rounds of the competition, finishing in last position in each race.

4. Crimdon of swimming pool

Crimdon is a village in County Durham, England.

It is situated on the North Sea coast, between Blackhall Rocks and Hartlepool on the A1086 road. Crimdon was formerly a popular holiday resort for miners and their families from nearby towns and villages, on account of its affordability for low-income workers. During the 1960s Butlins took an interest in buying the Crimdon Dene Holiday Park there from Easington District Council, but the sale was declined as Butlins intended to charge people to use the beach.

The 1970s and 80s saw Crimdon's decline as a resort as the popularity of foreign travel increased. The holiday park is now owned by Park Resorts but there are few facilities, unlike the case in the past, when there was a fairground and pavilion. Park Resorts have built a new clubhouse with a bar, a restaurant, and an indoor swimming pool since buying the holiday park from Easington District Council.

There are also two smaller holiday parks at CrimdonDenemouth Caravan Park and Evergreen Park. Crimdon Dene is a local nature reserve between the A1086, Crimdon Viaduct, and the beach. Crimdon Beck runs through the dene, which normally has a dried up stream bed in places during the summer.

Terns now nest on the beach and the area has become popular with birdwatchers as tourism has waned. Crimdon

5. Plot of swimming pool

The novel is set in Mississippi during the summer of 1964, a summer of desegregation in the South.

The story revolves around two best friends, John Henry, who is black and Joe, who is white. They do everything together, including swimming in a local creek. However, they cannot do the same in the town pool because blacks are not allowed to use the public swimming pool.

Joe is then told that a law has been passed that blacks can do everything that whites can do. He is really excited because this means that he can go to the town pool tomorrow with John Henry. The boys are more excited than ever but when they arrive at the town pool the following day, they are shocked to find that the town pool has been closed.

The pool has been filled with black sticky tar as the white people in their community chose to close down the entire pool instead of facing the prospect of sharing it with their black neighbors. While the laws of the nation of changed, it becomes clear to the boys that attitudes and ideas about race will take longer to evolve. The boys are disappointed but the book ends with a glimmer of hope as the two friends are able to enter a grocery store together that was previously for whites only.

Cavalry was rare, and was typically light cavalry used as skirmishers or to protect an army's flanks. Infantry was the supreme fighting force, and the maniple and phalanx were both developed as a counter to infantry. The phalanx and the maniple were both employed offensively: to push against the enemy's formation and break it.The Renaissance, on the other hand, was the tail end of a period when heavy cavalry was the dominant force. Ranged weapons such as bows, cannon, and early handheld firearms were common, and infantry were considered a "yes, we've also got some of them" force by many commanders.Tactically, the job of a pike square is to provide a defensive formation: to keep enemy cavalry away from your artillery and to keep enemy cavalry and infantry away from your arquebusiers (see: pike and shot). Singapore: a Haven of Stability
Aerial view of Singapore’s ever-changing skyline.Despite the sluggish market and weak economic outlook, Singapore is still considered a safe bet by foreign investors, according to analysts.By Michelle YeeAlthough the property cooling measures such as the Additional Buyer’s Stamp Duty (ABSD), imposed by the government in 2011 to calm a heated market and avert an asset bubble caused foreign buyers to stay away since 2012, resulting in a a slowdown in the country’s residential market, analysts feel that foreigners are starting to shift their focus back to Singapore, as many of them view the city-state as a safer investment destination as compared to other countries.“In recent years, transaction volumes have been picking up, rising 16 percent year-on-year in 2016, and continuing to be active in 2017. New sales launches are generally doing well, enjoying keen response from buyers. The perception that prices could be bottoming also led many buyers back to the market. In 2016, residential property purchases by foreigners accounted for 6.7 percent of total residential transactions, while in the first five months of 2017, the proportion was slightly higher at 6.9 percent,” shared Ong Teck Hui, National Director, Research and Consultancy at JLL.Last year, Chinese developer Qingjian Realty made headlines when it paid $638 million for Shunfu Ville via a collective sale in May. They also won the tender for a mixed-use development site in Bukit Batok West for $301 million that same month.Similarly, in the commercial sector, sales transactions have also been on an uphill trend.“Activity in Singapore’s office investment sales market (comprising private sector deals above $5 million and all public sector deals) picked up momentum in 2016, following two years of contraction in 2014 and 2015. The overall sales volume hit a nine-year high of $ 9.06 billion in 2016, driven by mega deals such as Qatar Investment Authority’s acquisition of Asia Square Tower 1 for some $3.4 billion, and IOI Properties’ purchase of the Central Boulevard Government Land Sales site for $2.57 billion. Foreign interest in Singapore’s office properties also continued into 2017 with Hong Kong Land, Fullshare Holdings, Simply Swift Limited – a wholly-owned subsidiary of HK-listed Shun Tak Holdings and Lei Shing Hong Properties (Singapore) amongst those who made purchases in the first six months of the year,” added Tay Huey Ying, Head of Research and Consultancy at JLL.Sharing her thoughts on the increase in foreign funds into Singapore, Christine Li, Research Director at Cushman & Wakefield said: “Due to global market volatility as a result of Brexit and the continued deterioration in the oil and gas industry, foreign investors see Singapore as a safer investment destination where investment is fairly protected due to the strength of the Sing dollar.”Why invest in Singapore? Many people from all over the world know Singapore to be a place that is not only stable and effective, but the country also has a strong economy and boasts a world-class education system. That said, another big pull factor for foreign investors is that as compared to other countries in the world dealing with Brexit, an unpredictable Trump presidency in the US, political unrest in the Middle East, as well as terror plots in Europe and some parts of Asia, Singapore is considered to be a very safe place to invest and even live in.“Singapore has strong fundamentals including political stability, economic growth and progress, market transparency and an effective legal system. The residential property market, on the other hand, has a track record of long term capital appreciation. Investors from some nearby countries see Singapore as a safe haven to invest some of their wealth, taking into account the appreciation of the Sing dollar against their currencies,” Ong said.Echoing similar sentiments, Shaun Poh, Executive Director of capital markets at Cushman & Wakefield said, “Although the market is sluggish, Singapore is still a safe bet compared with other developing economies, which may pose more risk and have greater uncertainty.”Luxury apartments with sea views are becoming more popular among buyers.Still a buyer’s marketFor those who are looking to invest in Singapore’s property market, analysts share that now is a good time to buy as it is still a buyer’s market.“The residential market appears close to the bottom of the cycle, and prices are expected to recover after that. Currently, it is still a buyer’s market as purchasers are still price sensitive. Therefore, sellers have been realistic in pricing – for example developers who are trying to move sales in their launches have to price the units realistically to attract buyers. There are numerous projects in good locations such as the prime districts and near MRT stations which could meet the needs of investors,” Ong shared.Analysts point out that foreign investors’ interest for commercial properties have also remained strong as the price gap between buyers and sellers in Singapore has narrowed, following recent price corrections.According to the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s price index, office prices dipped 0.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2016 from the preceding quarter, marking a sixth straight quarter of decline, caused by financial and business services consolidating, while the completion of large projects also caused a short-term supply overhang.Overall, the total price decline in 2016 for office space stood at 2.8 percent, which is much steeper than the 0.1 percent dip reported in 2015.As such, discerning investors who are adopting a mid- to longterm view (about five to 10 years or more), are seizing opportunities to purchase assets in the office sector at lower prices.“Investors continue to be keen on Singapore’s prime office and suburban retail assets, which are closely held and rare to access,” Tay Huey Ying, Research Head at JLL said.Property hotspotsTo get a better idea on which areas and what type of properties foreign buyers favour, we spoke to analysts who shared that foreign investors are currently leaning towards condominiums in the prime districts or city fringe area, as these tend to be more in demand by tenants and could be more competitive for leasing. Developments near MRT stations and amenities are also popular with investors.“The preference is still the prime areas – Districts 9, 10, 11, and District 4 (Sentosa, Keppel Bay) for non-Asian foreigners. That said, Asian foreigners are open to other areas like Queenstown, the Redhill cluster, Buona Vista and Paya Lebar. Most of the draw comes from availability of good quality stock in these areas,” shared Tay Kay Poh, Executive Director and Head of Residential Services, Knight Frank Singapore.Ong from JLL, on the other hand, said that new developments with good attributes generally tend to attract more buyers. “Investors and buyers are usually drawn to developments with good attributes, for example, Seaside Residences in the East Coast area, which is situated near an array of amenities, a future MRT station, and enjoys sea views, found strong demand from buyers. Another example of a project that sold well is Park Place Residences at Paya Lebar Quarter, which is part of a prestigious mixed-use development at Paya Lebar, and is located near an MRT station served by two MRT lines.”What to look out forFor investors who are not sure which areas in Singapore they should invest in, analysts noted that they can begin by looking for properties that are situated close to amenities and are well served by transportation links. “I would recommend locations close to the MRT or transport nodes. For the purpose of investment, investors might wish to consider smaller developments with unique features as this would translate to lesser competition when seeking rental. Lastly, pick developers with brand reputation and have a good track record,” Tay said.NATIONAL HIGHLIGHTSSingapore is home to various high quality residential projects. Knowledge About Swimming Pool
1. Beaumont Common of swimming pool Beaumont Common was an English style Common. Ownership of The Common was originally vested in trust only for those residents living within the Village of Beaumont, that is the bounds of Cooper Place, Beaumont Road (now Glynburn Road), Dashwood Road and Devereaux Road (as if it actually continued due south to Dashwood instead of meandering to the east at West Tce). Originally it was fenced and gated with the key being available only to residents of the Village of Beaumont. The fence and gates were removed in the early 20th century. The trust deed was lodged at the Land Titles Office Adelaide. Trustees remaining on the death of a trustee appointed a successor by unanimous not majority vote. The last trustees included the late Alfred Scammell (of Fauldings) and J B Cleland. They appointed Burnside Council a co-trustee following an undertaking by Council to maintain The Common as an open space public park. As the remaining trustees aged, Burnside Council then attempted many times to instead build on the Common, against the wishes of Beaumont residents. Residents were successful in ensuring what later became the JB Cleland kindergarten, The Hazelwood Park Swimming Pool, the Beaumont Uniting Church Tennis Courts and the Beaumont Bowling Club were all erected elsewhere. Several attempts over the years to build public lavatories and entertainment facilities were also rebuffed. Burnside Council refused to agree to any further trustee appointments as trustees died. The remaining trustees attempted to appoint Gordon Ditter (Ditters Nuts). Council refused. Fearing an attempt to obtain control of the Common by attrition, residents petitioned the State Government in 1971 to remove Burnside Council as a trustee by act of SA Parliament. Burnside Council objected. Several heated meetings between Council and residents ensured. To resolve the impasse the State Government declared Beaumont Common a public park under the Parks and Gardens Act with clauses prohibiting any future building to ever take place on Beaumont Common. Later revisions of the Act have had those clauses removed. No resident consultation on their removal ever took place. ------ 2. Frans Detige of swimming pool Andreas Frans Theodoor Detige (Antwerp, 22 December 1909 - 1 November 1980) was a Belgian politician for the social democratic Belgian Socialist Party, a member of the Parliament (1947-1974) and mayor of Antwerp (1976), after he had been (1947-1976) alderman for social affairs in the postwar period of mayor Lode Craeybeckx. Frans Detige was the father of Leona Detige and grandfather of Maya Detige. He held a degree Licentiaat Handelswetenschappen (equivalent to a Master of Business Administration) and studied at the Handelshogeschool (college now integrated in University of Antwerp, located at the Schilderstraat 41, Antwerpen. From 1930-1947 he was a journalist at the socialist daily national newspaper Volksgazet. After being an active party member in the socialist movement and in the party, he was elected to Parliament in 1946, and stayed in office until 1974. Later he also became alderman for Social Affairs (1947-1976), during the nearly 30 years of the mayoralty of Lode Craeybeckx in the city of Antwerp and in that capacity he was one of the most influential (politically) architects of post war Antwerp. From December 1971 to March 1974, he was a member of the Cultural Council for the Dutch-speaking Cultural Community, predecessor of the Vlaams Parlement. In 1976 after the death of Lode Craeybeckx, he became mayor, but didn't stand for re-election at the end of the year. He was responsible for the destruction of nearly 5000 inhabitable houses (hovels), unfortunately also some historically valuable houses (that were considered beyond restoration). He was promoting some large scale social housing projects (like Jan De Voslei en de Kol. Bill Boomer of swimming pool William "Bill"/"Buzz"/"Boomer" Boomer was the head coach of the men's swim team at the University of Rochester from 1962 to 1990. ------ 4. 2012 Olympics of swimming pool Djibou Issaka, a gardener and swimming pool attendant, was chosen by Niger to train as a sculler just three months prior to the 2012 Summer Olympics, receiving his first training in competitive rowing in Egypt, then spending two months at the International Rowing Development Centre in Tunisia. ------ 5. Alfred Nakache of swimming pool Alfred Nakache (1915 1983) was a Jewish French swimmer and water polo player. A member of the French team for the 1936 Berlin Summer Olympic Games, he also swam in the first post-war Summer Olympics in London in 1948. He is one of two Jewish athletes, as far as is known, to have competed in the Olympics after surviving the Holocaust. Nakache set the world record in the 200 metre breaststroke with a time of 2:36.8 on 6 July 1941 in the long course seawater pool in Catalans in Marseilles. Since FINA at the time recognized world records set in either short course (25 metre) or long course (50 metre) pools for the 200 metre breaststroke, his record was easily broken by Joe Verdeur in 1946 in a short course pool. If records were measured as they are today in long and short course pools, Verdeur would have broken Nakache's long course world record of 2:36.8 in 1948 at the US Olympic trials with a time of 2:36.3. With Alexandre Jany and Georges Vallerey Jr., he broke the world record for 3 X 100m medley on August 8, 1946. Nakache was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 1993 and the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 2019. He was the subject of a French documentary in 2001, entitled Alfred Nakache, the Swimmer of Auschwitz.and the 2017 French documentary entitled Nage Libre, directed by Thierry Lashras, coproduced by EVA Productions and France Tlvisions, with the participation of French Olympic swimmer Fabien Gilot , in the steps of Nakache. At 12 August 1941 he had a French Jewish girl daughter named Annie Nakache, born in Constantine (Algeria). She lived in Toulouse. She is a daughter of the swimmer with Ms. Paule Nakache. In January 1944 she was deported to Auschwitz with her parents and later was murdered in a gas chamber with her mother Paule. (font: Memorial Auschwitz)
How Safe Would It Be to Hide in a Swimming Pool During a Tornado?
Donu2019t do this. There are a couple main risks. First, tornados spawn out of huge thunderstorms. There might not be lightning during the tornado itself, but there will be before the tornado and likely after as well. Lightning is attracted to water, because itu2019s a good conductor. If you are the water and lightning strikes. If you manage to survive or avoid being electrocuted, you still have to deal with the debris itself. You have an oxygen tank with 10 minutes worth of air. The problem is, it is stuck in the ground so you cannot swim with it. How do you survive? This is easy for any diver.Hyperventilate andcontrolled-ascend.By hyperventilating, a person can go several minutes without air- particularly if they are at a high pressure.100 feet is 3 atmospheres, so you could normally go about 3 times as long without air as on the surface. The only problem is avoiding air-embolisms which can occur from pressure-differences as you ascend. So as long as you exhale freely and dont hold your breath, you should be easily be able to ascend 100 feet freely without air.The only problem would be if you were down there a long time, since decompression-sickness could take effect; but its better than drowning ------ I have one N95 mask. I want to keep it as long as I can. How should I clean it? My best information to preserve the life of your mask is to protect it.At the hospital where I work, we also have one N95 mask per person. We have been advised to lengthen the life of our mask by wearing a cloth mask over it. Store your mask in a breatheable bag like a paper bag when not in use. Dont use a plastic bag which can confine bacteria, moisture and mold in the item. After giving it a good deal of thought, I believe it best to avoid abrading the surface. Perhaps giving it a good shake to remove visible debris and keeping it dry may be the best options.I doubt adding any liquid spray disinfectant would be recommended as it might compromise the materials the mask is made of ------ If Iu2019m on a walking trail and passing people, is it still necessary to wear a face mask? Disregard what Paul Noel has to say. His answer is incorrect and dangerous. It is, in fact, important to wear a mask when you are walking in the air droplet space of people. You need to keep your droplets away from them. Take him to the vet! Birds mask their illness well, and if you notice he seems sick, he might not have much time left.In the meantime, provide a warm comfy place to stay, very fresh water, a small area (to conserve calories, we need him as strong as possible) and lots of TLC.Heres what I use for very sick birds and young mammals:It's small, perfect for emergency vet appointments, there is a nice soft and easily washable hand towel (just make sure the towel you use can not snag your budgies claws), small food and water dishes can be put in easy reach of the bird, so they are not forced to move much. We can vote to continue to make our allies build up and help defend themselves, new trade agreements, more minorities and women in the workforce, and the lowest unemployment rate in almost 50 years. Or we can vote for the vice president of the last Administration who for 8 years kept their foot on the throat of the economy and remember when his boss said tell Vladimir this is my last election and after that I'm going to be more flexible. All the same time his party said he was going to Pivot away from Europe and the Middle East and towards Asia and leave our allies hanging in the Wind ------ Are CPAP cleaning machines legit? Are they worth the $300 cost? CPAP cleaning machines that I know of produce ozone/O3/activated oxygen to kill throughout the humidifier, tubing, mask and possibly the pump. These cleaning machines are great for people that are not bothered to clean their equipment or just find it very difficult to clean in hard to reach places and since ozone is a gas it will reach every crevice that bacteria chooses to grow. This is activated carbon. It has extremely high porosity, meaning there are endless little tiny holes inside of the substances. One gram of it can cover 3000 square meters.Because of its ability to create huge surface areas with minimal material, it has massive utility across all sorts of industrial applications. Its sometimes fed to people if theyve overdosed and had lots of drugs in their stomach to slow absorption of the substance. It can also be used to get pollutants and oil out of water systems. Thought camera :- The camera who captured thought of the person. This is invent by famous invention Nikola Tesla who is known for alternating current. He was doing experiments in 1893, Tesla told a newspaper reporter decades later: I became convinced that a definite image formed in thought must, by reflex action, produce a corresponding image on the retina, which might possibly be read by suitable apparatus. The inventor conceived of reflecting an image on an artificial retina, taking a photograph and projecting the image on a screen. If this can be done successfully, then the objects imagined by a person would be clearly reflected on the screen as they are formed, he said, and in this way every thought of the individual could be read. But unfortunately this invention didn't work as Tesla hoped. #Myth. ------ Why are beards not allowed in the armed forces? (Besides masks) Its partially because there is a need for smooth skin for gas masks. Soldiers and Marines, in particular, deploy with gas masks. Theyre carried everywhere. Im not sure why you think they wouldnt be needed now. Have you not seen the footage out of Syria with Assad gassing civilians? Or the chlorine gas factory ISIS was building blowing up in the middle of that densely packed neighborhood?Theres also an issue of uniformity and cleanliness. Beards just dont look tight and proper unless you can take care of them constantly. There are much more important pieces of gear to focus on than your beard. Easiest solution - dont allow them.
Are Thunderstorms in Asia Harder to Deal with As a Pilot Than in Other Regions of the World?
It's not so much about "Asia" as it is about "The Intertropical Convergence Zone(s)".nVariation in the location of the intertropical convergence zone drastically affects rainfall in many equatorial nations, resulting in the wet and dry seasons of the tropics rather than the cold and warm seasons of higher latitudes. Longer term changes in the intertropical convergence zone can result in severe droughts or flooding in nearby areas. nThe areas that the ITCZ covers tend to experience heavier rainfall, larger thunderstorms and, depending on seasonal variations, Tropical Cyclones.nThe location of the intertropical convergence zone varies over time. Over land, it moves back and forth across the equator following the sun's zenith point. Over the oceans, where the convergence zone is better defined, the seasonal cycle is more subtle, as the convection is constrained by the distribution of ocean temperatures. Sometimes, a double ITCZ forms, with one located north and another south of the equator. When this occurs, a narrow ridge of high pressure forms between the two convergence zones, one of which is usually stronger than the other. nTowering thunderstorms in the ITCZ commonly pile up to heights well above what an airliner can fly over. 55,000ft stormcloud tops are not unusual, associated with hail, ice, lightning and other hazards to aviation.nRecently a Singapore airlines flight was flying through similar weather when, it encountered bad weather at 39,000ft about three and a half hours after departure. Both engines experienced a temporary loss of power and the pilots followed operational procedures to restore normal operation of the engines.nYou can read more about it at Singapore Airlines Flight Suffers Engine Failure en Route to Shanghai nThe Air France flight 447 crash Air France Flight 447 also appears to have been effected by weather associated with the ITCZ over the tropical south Atlantic ocean near Brazil.nMost of Asia, from Indonesia to China lies inside the latitudes suseptible to the ITCZ phenomenon, but so too is much of Central America and sub-saharan Africa. Is there a place (like a website, for instance) where I could share my poetry and other writings? ------ What is the percentage of profitable trades for successful day traders? Flipping a coin and trading both produce a binary outcome. If you flip a coin 5 times, and heads wins and tails you lose, it could come up heads 5 times in a row. You would have 5 winners. However, if you flip a coin 100 times there will be an equal distribution of heads and tails, and your win loss ratio will be around 50%. The point is, the more you flip the coin more evenly the distribution of results. The same applies to trading. Trading is no different than flipping a coin. This is why I always tell traders, itu2019s not about a single trade, but a series of trades. If you want your statistical average to be about 50% you need to trade a lot. How much is a lot? I am sure a statistician could calculate a #, but itu2019s probably 80 to 100 trades. You might have 3 winners, 1 loser, 2 winners, 6 losers, 1 winner, 3 losers, etc. They are random, and you donu2019t know what trade will be a winner or loser. This is the whole basis behind keeping losers small and letting winners run. Easy to type that into a sentence, and I can say it 100 times, but very few follow this approach. In fact, you and others will do the exact opposite. You will do the exact opposite because of how you were raised, what your were taught, and how you view success and failure. When I hear someone is winning 70% of their trades, my initial reaction isu2026that sucks, they arenu2019t making any money. What a minuteu2026but they are winning 7 out of 10 trades. They sure are, but their losses for those 3 trades will eat up the 7 winners. If I wanted to have a 80% win ratio I could do it. As soon as my option, stock, future, etc, goes green I close the trade. Just completely ignore everything else. Itu2019s green and I am out. If it goes red I wait for it to become green and probably half the time it will turn green, which in turn jacks up my win loss ratio. BUTu2026the times it does not come back, the lose will get bigger and bigger, and reach a point where you just have to get out. You just canu2019t afford to lose anymore money on the trade, as you watch you profits disappear. Because you closed those other trades as soon as they were winners, you didnu2019t make much on each one, but the losing trade you held, was 5 to 10 times the winners. So you only lost 1 trade and maybe won 5 other trades, your actually net winnings are negative. This is why 95% of traders fail (itu2019s probably closer to 99.5%, but whatever).I win about 45% to 60% of my trades each week, so I expect to lose about 50% of my trades over the month, I just donu2019t know which trade it will be a winner or loser. Since I donu2019t know, I have to treat each loser the same, and follow a set of rules. I canu2019t follow rules on one trade but not another. I might get lucky and a big lose turns into a profitable trade, but I am not a gambler, Iu2019m a trader. Same applies to winners. I have to allow the winners to run. This is more of an art than a science, but it should be mechanical. The art is knowing how to use trailing stops, where to place the stops, when to scale out or when to add to a position, etc. The mechanical aspect is following a set of rules, just a computer. A rule gets triggered you execute. No exceptions. Computer donu2019t think, they donu2019t have emotion, they donu2019t trade based on how much money they have made on trade. Itu2019s based on a set of commands. This is how I exit a winning trade. My stop is hit, I am out. Sometimes the position will continue to run, but it came back and hit my stop, so I got out. Again, you donu2019t know how far a stock will run, so you have to give it room, but not allow it to come back too much and take a lot of profit away. Again, there is an art to this, but itu2019s mechanically executed. What makes trading so frustrating for new traders, is they are usually very lucky or fortunate in the beginning. I can not tell you how many people start off and immediately make money on their first 5 or 6 trades. They really have no idea what they are doing, but it works out for them. As they learn and grow, their brain now looks at trades differently, over analyzes things, second guesses a decision, and they get more emotional about trades, etc. When you donu2019t have any pressure on yourself, or the money does not mean much, you donu2019t become emotional. But once you learn and grow, you expect more from yourself, put more pressure on yourself, and have money that matters at stake, and you get emotionally attached and invested, and this is what destroys traders. Itu2019s why you can kill it trading a sim account, but lose money when their is real skin in the game. Good luckWhat is the percentage of profitable trades for successful day traders?
What Are the Causes of Low Standard Living in a Developing Country?
Low productivity and exploitation probably contribute, but they are not the main causes of low standards of living. From my experience spending years in developing countries, what I think the real causes for low living standards are primarily these:Government corruption means public funds that could be used for social development are funneled off into private pockets of the filthy richThe elite own large parts of the economy and eliminate competition. Government protects and takes a cut from cartels. This makes things much more expensive for the populationGovernment taxation like import duties, means imports will be very expensive to the local population, means they cannot buy imports so they have to do with low quality cheap things. The money from the duties often gets funneled off too to the corruptGovernment prohibits foreigners from starting small businesses while locals donu2019t have the know how.Government incompetence stemming from nepotism. Nepotism leads to corruption and incompetence, since people in power are not selected based on their abilities, and family members will not challenge corruptionGovernment keeps the population poor with taxes. No free media, in some countries the population is completely brainwashed into thinking everything is okay, and the country is doing fine. Journalists who report on the truth may be harassed, jailed or even murdered. Short term mentality by the population and very low educational levels resulting in poor quality of most things. People accept poor quality and donu2019t demand better. What are the causes of low standard living in a developing country?. · Other Questions Is there a place (like a website, for instance) where I could share my poetry and other writings? While flying from Huntsville, Alabama to Atlanta, Georgia, the aircraft flew through a severe thunderstorm which led to the loss of thrust from both engines on the DC-9 "caused by the ingestion of massive amounts of water and hail which in combination with thrust lever movement induced severe stalling in and major damage to the engine compressors" (from the NTSB's probable cause). The flight attempted an emergency landing on a highway in New Hope, Georgia, but crashed, killing 63 of the 85 passengers and crew. An additional eight people on the ground were killed and one was seriously injured, succumbing to the injuries several months later. (http://www.fss.aero/accident-reports/look.php?report_key146)A search turned up several other non-fatal encounters with hail:Encounter with damaging hail, Boeing 757-225, TF-ARD, 20 August 2005 (Event Details)Turbulence and hail damage in-flight, Airbus A321-231, G-MIDJ, 26 May 2003 (Event Details)nAircraft damage in hailstorm west of Helsinki on 21. 7. 2001 (Event Details)nnThere are also plenty of examples of aircraft on the ground being damaged, sometimes severely, by hail:South African Airways had one-third of its fleet grounded in January 1980 after a hailstorm at Johannesburg, with some aircraft being grounded for a week or longer. (http://www.itnsource.com/es/shotlist//RTV/1980/01/17/BGY511170473/)American Airlines had at least 110 aircraft grounded after a hailstorm hit Dallas/Fort Worth in April 2012. (D/FW Airport says more than 110 airplanes there received hail damage)nSome of the damage involved would have been quite dangerous had it happened in-flight. Do airliners ever fly through hail in the atmosphere?Do commercial airliners ever fly through hail in the atmosphere? ------ Are thunderstorms in Asia harder to deal with as a pilot than in other regions of the world? This is an off the cuff answer for me but having some personal experience in the B&B and hospitality world Iu2019ll throw in my 2 cents. Running a legitimate B&B is a business, so make sure you understand that your going to be retiring into a new career. Depending on the area you choose, you may have seasonality fluctuation so there will likely be times that youu2019ll be working harder and some youu2019ll not beu2026. .business wise, it will largely depend on what type of property you can find your way into. The one I helped with was set up with a full on certified kitchen and provided meals as a part of the package making it a true bed & breakfast with 5 rooms and pretty steady occupancy so it made outsourcing the kitchen and cleaning less cumbersome. The maintenance gets annoying and if at all possible should be outsourced if you can find a decent handyman. As long as you can approach a b&b as a business and do the proper planning you can have yourself a pretty sustainable little retirement job. If, on the other hand you shoot from the hip & just u2018wing itu2019, youu2019ll increase your chances of not enjoying the experience.Running a B&B can be very rewarding, from the enjoyment of the location you find to a rotating door of new people you will inevitably get to know, so long as you approach it with a plan. How Good Are Beaches in Costa Rica?
In my opinion, they are quite nice. Thereu2019s a little something for everyone.Costa Rica has two coastlinesu2014-the Pacific, and the Atlantic (Caribbean Sea). Both coastlines are very, very hot (it gets cooler inland towards the mountains of the central valley). The beaches on the Pacific tend to be a dry heat, whereas those on the Caribbean are humid. The Pacific will offer you many stunning choices like Manuel Antonio all the way up to the border of Nicaragua. You can find black volcanic sand beaches (like Ocotal), or beaches made of shell (Playa Conchal). There are party beaches (like Jaco and Playas del Coco) and you can find interesting towns like Montezuma on the Nicoya Peninsula. Everyone will have a different opinion on best beaches and there are too many to mention here.If you travel to the Caribbean side, itu2019s a little more tropical. Cahuita is stunningly beautiful and youu2019ve got Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo. Lots of surfing near Limon, as well.Keep in mind, the Caribbean coast is a long, straight coastline leading to rougher surf than the jagged Pacific side. And, Costa Rica does have riptides. How good are beaches in Costa Rica? · Suggested Reading What are the causes of low standard living in a developing country? ------ What is it like to live in a poor country? Iu2019m answering this question when my country,India was not poor on a gross level but wealth was only concentrated in few metropolises like Delhi,Mumbai,Bengaluru,Kolkata etc and other regions like Bihar,Odisha,Madhya Pradesh was poor.It was the decade of 1990s.I was living with my family in Biharsharif,a small town in Bihar. My father was having a salary of 5000INR($106 at that time) per month & it was very difficult to make our expenses with my mother having Arthritis . To make our study my elder brother and sister shared common stationaries(for ex-instead of buying two pencils a single pencil was purchased and it was broken into two halves by my mother and then distributed to my brother and sister). The worst case was with power supply with our whole town facing power cuts for 12u201318 hours daily. There was a rarest of the rare case when my locality faced power shortage for 1 year because of a malfunctioned transformer. Electrical&Electronics gadgets like washing machines, televisions, mobile phones were rare & those who possessed them where considered wealthy by the local populace.India has changed very much since then thanks to the pro-capitalist approach of the government. What is it like to live in a poor country?what is it like to live in a poor country?. ------ What is your review of buying a flat with Godrej Properties? Do airliners ever fly through hail in the atmosphere?Do commercial airliners ever fly through hail in the atmosphere? ------ What is it like to own (and run) a bed and breakfast? Owning even a small B&B can be hard work and long hours. An important aspect is to take pride your B&B and the facilities you offer. Guests must be made to feel special, which requires effort on your part. You need to keep everything in tip-top shape too, which can be quite a challenge, especially financially. Some guests unavoidably arrive late and sometimes we receive last minute booking requests late at night. In addition to some late nights either waiting for late check ins or entertaining guests, very early mornings are sometimes necessary too, as I cook and serve breakfast myself and guests may want an early start to their day. It's great meeting people from all over your own country, and international guests too. If there is time, chatting to them and finding out more about them can be enjoyable and informative. Some guests are happy to be left to themselves, while others are quite demanding of your time and energy, so personal privacy is not something you can count on. It can sometimes be difficult to make all your guests happy all the time as I have found that everyone seems to have different expectations. Regular customers are always good to have, as that is the best way to know that you are doing things right. I really enjoy the day-to-day running of our little venture, but it is definitely not a business that will make anyone rich. ------ When I retire, I want to have a bed and breakfast in a coastal area.
